Maj., USAF Ret., age 59, of Dayton, passed away unexpectedly December 4, 2001. Born Oct. 24, 1942, he was a loving husband and a cherished father, grandfather and friend. John leaves the world a much better place for having been here, though here for far too short a time. John was a proud veteran of the USAF with 29 years of service. During his career, he was awarded numerous awards of merit and citations for his devotion to duty. He served in Vietnam and was assigned overseas on numerous occasions. John was also devoted to his family. Preceded in death by his father, Paul Federinko. Survived by his wife of 37 years, Dot; 2 sons, Steven (Susan) Federinko and Michael (Melissa) Federinko; daughter, Kristina (David) Tumey; 8 grandchildren, Alexander, Paul, Caroline, Jonathan, Jacob, Sydney, Hannah and Adam; mother, Dorothy Federinko; sister, Susan Ratay; brother, Paul Andrew Federinko; and numerous other family and friends, both here and in Europe. John was especially proud of his most recent achievement of researching and writing a book about his family heritage. Viewing will be from 6:00 - 7:00 PM, Wednesday, in Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Trisagon prayers will be at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, at St. Paul's Orthodox Church, 4451 Wagner Rd., Dayton, with Father Theodore Bobosh officiating. Visitation will also take place from 7:00 - 9:00 PM, Friday, in Harry J. Bence Funeral Home, Clymer, PA, with Trisagon prayers at 9:00 PM, with Father Sally, officiating. Graveside services will be held Dec. 8, Saturday, at St. Michael's Orthodox Cemetery, Clymer, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Orthodox Church, Icon Fund, Attn: Father Bobosh.
