HORVAT, John, aged 92, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018. Born September 1, 1926 in Djulovac, Croatia, John immigrated to America in 1950 with his wife Mary and young daughters. He lived in Dayton, OH until 1966 when he and his family moved to Xenia, OH. In addition to working on his land, John worked for Greene County’s maintenance department until his retirement August, 1993. Five years ago, John moved into Brookdale Senior Living in Kettering, where he enjoyed an active social life and shared many activities with his special friend and companion Kay Koller. Preceded in death by Mary, his beloved wife of 49 years, he is survived by his son Frank, daughters Helene (Ted) Senecal and Trudi Wittt; grandchildren Brian (Kara) Witt, Aaron (Kelly) Witt, Kevin Witt, Nick (Leah) Senecal, Karen (Luke) Smith, Kelly (Cort) Hamilton, John (Brandi) Horvat, Michael (Susan) Horvat and Elizabeth Horvat; and 15 great-grandchildren. John will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, Papa, and friend to everyone. The family wishes to thank the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living and Brookdale Hospice for the special care and comfort shown to John during his time with them. Family will receive friends from 9:00am – 10:00am at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH, on Friday, December 7, 2018, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 at Ascension Catholic Church, 2025 Woodman Dr., Kettering, and internment at Calvary Cemetery.
