ZAHORA, John Joseph, age 85, of Dayton, OH passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Walnut Creek Nursing Home.
John was born on June 20, 1927 in Dayton, OH. He was a member of Church of Ascension, Society of Manufacturing Engineers and sang the National Anthem at the Opening day at EKRC where he was a founding member of East Kettering Recreational Club.
John enjoyed singing in the choir, playing pool, cracking a joke and singing at many family members wedding's. On September 20, 1952 John married the love of his life Margaret, they shared 52 years together until her passing in March of 2004. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Zahora and Mary Dudon.
John is survived by his daughters, Janice (James) Kilian of Bellbrook, OH and Joanne Zahora of Denver, CO; sons, Jim Zahora of Dayton, OH, John (Donna) Zahora and Jeff (Amy) Zahora of Miamisburg, OH, Joe (Heather) Zahora of Dayton, OH and Jerry (Kathy) Zahora of Kettering, OH; 17 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Family will greet friends for a visitation from 4:00pm-7:00pm Friday, May 3, 2013 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Church of Ascension 2025 Woodman Dr., Dayton, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of John to the Alzheimer's Association, 3797 Summit Glenn Dr., Ste G100, Dayton, OH 45449.
