Caraway, John M, 52, of Kettering, died Monday, July 18, 2016 at home. Born April 6, 1964, he was the son of John D. Caraway of Dayton and Karen Caraway of Trotwood. John graduated Trotwood Madison High School, class of 1982, and attended University of Dayton for two years, then completed the Fire Academy at Sinclair College where he served as a Firefighter and EMT for Station 32 in Kettering.
He loved to help people and animals, he was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints, and loved anything that would celebrate his Irish heritage. He enjoyed Art, History, making walking sticks and he loved the outdoors and riding his motorcycle and spending time with the love of his life, Phyllis.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Burkett Caraway; his mother in law, Naomi Burkett; two brothers, Christopher (LeeAnn) Caraway; Edwin (Kelly) Becker; two sisters, Amy Caraway and Marjorie Caraway, numerous nieces and nephews and his two dogs, Matisse and Petey.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Esther Caraway.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, July 22, 2016 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Road, Kettering, with interment at Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
