It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Walter Missall III, age 75, who departed this life on December 5, 2024. A resident of Centerville, Ohio, John was born on May 18, 1949, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, to his loving parents, Betty and John Missall.
John grew up in Dayton and attended Archbishop Alter High School, where he laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to education and the arts. He furthered his education at Bowling Green State University, graduating with a degree in Art Education. During his time at BGSU, he met the love of his life, Jerilyn” Lyn” Manera. The couple wed in 1972, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together that would span 52 cherished years.
John dedicated his professional life to nurturing creativity and inspiring others as an art teacher at Woodmore High School in northern Ohio. During summer breaks, he showcased his talents at Fred Arn Architecture in Bowling Green. In 1978, John and Lyn moved to Centerville, Ohio, where they soon welcomed the birth of their beloved, only son, Jonathan. John became an integral part of his family construction business, John Missall and Company, where he honed his skills in various facets of the trade. Eventually, he established JMIII Construction, earning a reputation for his exceptional renovations and craftsmanship, which reflected his artistic flair.
A devout Roman Catholic, John was an active member of Saint Albert the Great Parish in Kettering. He volunteered his time as a reader during church Masses and found fellowship in the community through his involvement with the friends of Bill W.
Johns legacy lives on through the love of his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jerilyn; his son, Jonathan; and his siblings, Cheryl (Haresh) Patnaik, Nancy (Margaret Iannaci) Missall, Stephen Missall, Timothy Missall, and Myra (Kevin) Lowden. He was preceded in death by his cherished parents, John and Betty Missall.
