John P. Heinz

June 6, 1940 — August 7, 2006

HEINZ, Jack, age 66 of Sugarcreek Township died after suffering a massive heart attack while playing tennis on Monday, August 7, 2006. Jack grew up and lived in Pittsburgh, PA until the age of 18, when he was awarded a football scholarship to Eldorado Kansas Junior College. While there he married his high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years Linda. The couple moved to Dayton where Jack graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in accounting. Becoming a CPA, he joined Haskins and Sells. That led to his entry into commercial real estate with Dybvig and Frydman and eventually starting his own commercial real estate business, Jack Heinz Realty. In 1995 he and Linda purchased the KTC Quail Tennis Club of which they were members since the club’s inception in 1973. Jack’s two passions in life were family and tennis. He and his son Darrin were nationally ranked as high as fifth in Senior Father-Son doubles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Gertrude Heinz. Jack is survived by his wife Linda; children, Kelly and Norm Wagner, their children, Whitney, Emma and Hanna; John “J.P.” and Sandy Heinz, their children, Alex and Jackson; Darrin and Debbie Heinz, their children Wyatt and Rachel; Heather and Jay Buttery and their children Chase and Paige; sisters and their husbands, Sandy Foody, Shari and Jim Sortino; Diane and Jim Marcus; sisters in-law; Sandy and Russell “T” Fleming, and Debbie Essary; mother in-law, Ethel Davidson; many nieces and nephews. “Popper Jack’s” passion for life will be missed by all of those he touched. There will be a Celebration of Jack’s Life on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at 6:00pm a Quail Run Racquet Club. Tennis attire welcomed, NO ties, please.
