FLEMING, John S., age 87, of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital. John was born in Ft. Thomas, KY and graduated from Highlands High School there. He attended The Ohio State University and later joined the U.S. Air Force where he served as a staff sergeant in the Air Force Band and loved playing the saxophone and clarinet. During World War II, John entertained the troops in India, including the Assam Jungle and made many concert appearances with the Air Force Band. He was a sensitive person with a dry sense of humor, who loved animals and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. John was also proud that the Flemings were founding members of the Highland Country Club in Ft. Thomas, KY. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Rose (Young) Fleming and his brother Bill, as well as his beloved poodle, Pepper. John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Pat; daughter, Cindy Fleming; nieces, Sally Fleming and Susan Smith; special cat, Rosie and five grand-kitties. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 5-7:00PM.
