Mr. John Edward Sauer Jr., a proud native of Dayton, Ohio, and esteemed veteran of the Vietnam War, has passed away on October 30, 2024. He was born on June 23, 1946, to John and Alberta Sauer. After graduating from Centerville High School in 1965, Mr. Sauer dutifully served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he devoted over 35 years to Cessna Aircraft, retiring in 2003.
Known for his love of sports, Mr. Sauer relished playing softball in the Central Christian Church league and bowling at Centerville Lanes during league nights. A lover of nature, he enjoyed tending to his garden and creating beautiful landscapes around his home. His family was of great importance to him, and he cherished spending time with his siblings, particularly bonding with his great nieces and nephews through games and outings.
Mr. Sauer’s life was a demonstration of his appreciation for simplicity and connection to his community. He could often be found enjoying a cold beer, reading the newspaper, or engaging in conversations with his neighbors. His love for dogs, especially those in the neighborhood, brought him great joy as he frequently visited and played with them.
John is now reunited with his parents, John Edward Sr. and Alberta Louise. He leaves behind his sister Sandy Ayers, brother David Sauer, and a loving extended family, nieces and nephews, Chantel, Mark, Nathan, and Rachel, along with nine great nieces and nephews.
