John Andrew Tincu

TINCU, John A., age 77, of Beavercreek, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Hospice of Dayton, where he spent his final days surrounded by the warmth and comfort of his loved ones.

John was born in Dayton, OH on February 23, 1947, and graduated from Patterson Co-op High School in 1965. In April 1966, he went on to proudly and bravely serve his country with the United States Marine Corps. John took great pride in being a veteran of the Vietnam War before he was honorably discharged in April 1968 as a Sergeant. He married his wife Sharon that same month, and they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in 2024.

John worked tirelessly to support his family for more than 40 years. He retired from General Motors as a highly regarded machine repairist.

John had many pastimes, but fishing, softball and golf were his favorites. He spent many years playing in an adult softball league with his close friends, and they enjoyed celebrating their wins with beverages at Kramers Tavern. He was meticulous about taking care of his house and his yard, and he instilled in his two children his high standards of upkeep. What John loved most was time spent with his family, children and grandchildren and rooting on his beloved Dayton Flyers. Ever a faithful Catholic, John was a member of Church of the Ascension.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Erney and Margaret Tincu; his brother, Ernie Tincu; and his nephew, Kevin Tincu.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his daughter, Colleen; his son, Jason (Hayley); his grandchildren: Paige, Cooper, Caylee and Moira; his sister, Marie Schoepper; and numerous other family members and friends whom he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends and loved ones for a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, March 11 from 5-7 p.m. at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Road in Kettering. A Catholic Mass at Church of the Ascension, followed by an interment ceremony at Calvary Cemetery, will be held the following day, March 12 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of Dayton.
