John W. Clark

Clark, John William, age 83, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 28, 2011. John was born in Meigs County, Ohio, in 1927. His family later moved to Dayton, Ohio, where he graduated from Roosevelt High School and Sinclair College. He served briefly in the armed forces at the end of WWII. At age 16, John joined Dayton Power & Light, where he made valued, lasting friends and worked until retirement in 1983. After retirement, he and wife Phyllis enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and spending time with family. John was a kind, generous person and avid reader and movie buff. His loss will be deeply felt by his family and friends. Preceded in death by parents Mildred and Harold Clark and brother Ralph. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Jean (Baker) Clark; two daughters, Sue (Fred) Swensen and Judy (Mark ) Pyle; son John P. Clark (Eileen-Cherry); grandsons Steven and Chris Swensen; granddaughters Sara and Tracy Pyle; nieces Carole Sarkan, Nancy Brandt and Linda Newport; and nephews John M. Clark and James Grabill Jr.. A visitation will be held Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 11:00-1:00PM at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, OH. A funeral service will be held at 1:00PM following the visitation on Saturday, July 9 at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Centerville Cemetery.
