GRONER, John William, age 91, of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015. He was born on January 3, 1924 to the late Clyde and Irma Groner.
John proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps in Okinawa, Japan during WWII. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed woodworking and building model trains and railroads. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1942 and went on to receive his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Western Reserve University.
He worked for many years as a manufacturing manager with Ledex Products and as Special Projects Manager with The Specialty Papers Company. John, a dedicated and active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, served as a church deacon and along with Elaine enjoyed their membership in the church Sigma Group. John had many interests, including photography, carpentry, gardening and spending time with his loved ones.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Elaine; and brother, Robert Groner. John's memory will be cherished by his daughters, Susan (Dale) Steele and Robin (Chip) Nielsen and; grandchildren, Jonathan Nielsen, Andrew Nielsen, Amy Nielsen, Kathryn Forrester, Bruce Forrester and all those whose lives he touched.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church (125 N Wilkinson St. Dayton, OH 45402). In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to the National Museum of the United States Air Force(http://www.afmuseum.com/donations) or the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Please specify gift in memory of John Groner.
