Joseph F. Accrocco

ACCROCCO, Joseph F., age 85, of Kettering passed away Saturday, February 25, 2006 at Brighton Gardens. He was born and raised in Bellaire, Ohio. Joseph played football for UD before and after WWII. He was a Golden Gloves Boxing State Champion in Ohio. Joseph graduated from the University of Dayton in 1947. He did graduate studies at the University of Iowa and was also a graduate from the Permanente School of Physical Therapy in Vallejo, CA. Joseph served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corp during WWII. Joseph worked as a Physical Therapist at Miami Valley Hospital, Goodwill Industries, Good Samaritan Hospital, and later started the first private practice Physical Therapy Department in the State of Ohio, where he retired after over 30 years of service. He was a longtime member of the Fairmont Presbyterian Church, Antioch Shrine, Masonic F & AM, Alpha Lodge 729, American Legion Post 598, VFW 9927, and Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. He was a former member of Agonis Club, Rotary, and Aircraft Owners Pilots Association. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Pasquale & Anna Accrocco and his son, James Robert Accrocco. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Carol E. Accrocco; children, Anne (David) Mayer of Plano, TX, Daniel (Cecilia) Accrocco of Beavercreek, and John (Leslie) Accrocco of Kettering; grandchildren, Lindsay & Ashley Mayer, Tony, John, Britney, & Joe Accrocco. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with Rev. Bob Wade officiating. Burial at Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
