Chief Master Sergeant, USAF retired, age 82 of Kettering, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001 at Kettering Memorial Hospital. The son of Clyde and Pauline Roller, he was born in Akron, Ohio, August 9, 1918. Mr. Roller retired from the USAF after 30 years of service, including service during World War II. He then served 10 years as Building Maintenance Superintendent of Christ United Methodist Church in Kettering where he was a member. Mr. Roller was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Vandalia and the Maslah Shrine of Dallas, Texas. Preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Sarah Margaret. Survived by his second wife, Mary Grace; a son, Joseph Martin, Jr. of Kettering; a daughter and son-in-law, Sila and Michael Fitzgerald of San Juan Capistrano, CA; 2 sisters, Edna Mae Adams of Akron, OH and Ealda Grizer of Holland, NY; 3 step-children, Dr. William L. Nelson of Neenah, WI, Barbara E. Nelson of Union, OR and Mary Margaret Malone of White House, OH. A celebration of life in his memory will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday at Wright Patterson Air Force Base hospital chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229-3095.
