Joseph Richard Mathews

MATHEWS, Joseph R., age 87 of Miami Twp, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton. Joe graduated from Vincennes High School in Indiana and served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He retired in 1980 from Chrysler Air Temp after 30 yrs of service. Joe was Past Master of Alpha Lodge #729 F&AM, member of York Right, Victory Chapter #210, VFW Post #9582 and Reed Commandry #006, Past Patron of Belmont Chapter #555 OES and Past Commander of American Legion Post #598. Preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Phyllis; son Ronald Mathews of Sacramento, CA and several nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends on Friday, October 16 from Noon 1:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, OH. Funeral service will be held at 1:00PM at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Tuttle officiating. Burial in Miami Valley Memory Garden, Dayton, OH.
