Joyce Elaine Frederick

FREDERICK, Joyce E., age 82, formerly of Kettering, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Joyce was born on February 4, 1940, to the late Earl and Virginia Monroe, in Dayton, OH. She grew up in Dayton and graduated from Stivers High School. After her education Joyce had a career in the banking industry and retired from First National Bank after many years of service. She met the love of her life, Dale Frederick, later marrying in October of 1974. After raising her family she enjoyed working at DeClarks’ Card and Gift shop in Kettering. Joyce was well known in the Kettering community for her volunteerism with the Holiday at Home Parade, having served on the board with Dale for numerous years. She was a member of Eastern Star and often supported Dale in his Freemason activities. In her free time Joyce could often be found doing crosswords, or cheering on her favorite teams, including, OSU Football, the Reds, and the Bengals (even attending Reds games well into her 70s). Above all Joyce was a loving and caring, mother, grandmother, wife, and sister, and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Dale Frederick.

Joyce is survived by her children, Jon (Jessica) Frederick and Christine (Thomas) Reilly-Frederick; brother John (Lois) Monroe; grandchildren, Sylvia, Colleen, and Beth; great-grandchildren, Liam, Joselyn,….., step-grandchildren, Thomas and Pamela, nieces and nephews, Kelly “Terri” (Roger), Jennifer (Roger), Shalah (Jamie), Kevin (Kim), and Karin (Randy), and numerous grand nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 30, from 11-1pm with a Funeral service to follow, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429. The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Brookhaven Nursing Home of Brookville for their excellent and compassionate care of Joyce over the last 5 years.
