Judith A. Coy

COY, Judith A. (nee Kukura), age 73, formerly of Oakwood passed away Wednesday, February 20th, 2019. Judi was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 28th, 1945 to William John Kukura and Dorothy Jane (Myers).

She graduated from Fairborn High School in 1963. At age 13, she was forced to take the maternal helm when her mother passed away, taking care of her father and little brother, Gary. With the framework for loving maternal servitude in place, Judi’s spirit for living life was just beginning. She eventually found tremendous recreation in drag racing her midnight blue 1965 3-speed Pontiac LeMans against the all-male field of racers at Pences (Shelby) and Kil-Kare Speedway. She eventually settled down . . . a bit, marrying, and starting a family of her own. She had a knack for cooking with love, and was famous for her Chicken-n-Noodles and the only meatloaf to be loved and coveted by complete strangers ranging from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio State University, Miami University, and a few others in between. Judi’s continued devotion to her husband, Richard, and his immersion in all things Masonic and Scottish Rite, led them to travel the country and world in support of the offices he held. Along their journey, they made an exceptional number of friends, many of them very near and dear to their heart, including the “Big 8”. Judi’s passion for Pinochle with the same card club girlfriends spanned almost 6 decades. Most of all, she loved being a grandmother to so many beautiful and talented grandchildren. She and her husband loved attending as many ball games, cheer events, dance recitals, and everything in between that they could for their grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Richard L. Coy, her children, Bryan Coy and wife Pam, Craig Coy and wife Kellie, her daughter Michelle Turner, her son Kevyn Coy and wife Beth, son Tait Hamiel and wife Rebecca, 14 incredible grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 5th at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Road, Kettering, with the service beginning at 7:00 PM. Rev. Randy Clark officiating. Judi will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in the Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family would like to express their profound thanks and admiration to the angels of the Hospice of Dayton, for the tender care and support they not only gave to Judi, but to her entire family.
