Judith Carol Phillips-Bilbrey

PHILLIPS-BILBREY, Judith Carol (Hughes), age 78 of Centerville, OH, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 after a brief, unexpected illness. Judi was born in Wilmington OH to James L. and Marcella (Hildenbrand) Hughes. Her family soon moved to Germantown, OH where she graduated from Germantown HS in 1957. Judi then attended Ohio State University, receiving a degree in Home Economics Education, later working as a Home Ec teacher in Trotwood-Madison and Jefferson Twp. school districts. She then became a special education teacher and retired after teaching for several years in the Waynesville (OH) Local schools. Judi enjoyed working with kids, reading, sewing, and following news of her beloved Ohio State University. She was particularly proud of following her son Rob, first as he was a member of, then later as a support specialist for the Ohio State University Marching Band. Since her retirement, Judi thoroughly enjoyed being a substitute teacher working with the students and staff of Greene Co. Learning Center and other programs of the Greene Co. Educational Service Center. Judi also greatly enjoyed her time with Rob and Suzannes foster children. In addition to her parents, Judi was preceded in death by her brother James E. Hughes. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Robert Bilbrey, Jr, and her son Robert J.(Suzanne) Phillips of Marysville; also sister-in-law Barbara Hughes-Beckner of Lebanon; nephew Scott Hughes of Greenville, SC; niece Lynn (Dan) Pendery of New Harmony, UT.; and many other dear relatives and special friends. Services will be held at 5pm on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St, Centerville. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service.
