Julia Marie Trine passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024 in Dayton, Ohio under Hospice Care.
Julia was born Julia Marie Collins in Hamilton, Ohio on January 20, 1943. Her birth parents were Ethel Marie Devaney and Henry Collins, but she quickly became a ward of the state and spent her early years at the Butler County Children’s Home in Hamilton, Ohio. Unfortunately not much is known of her history, but she was eventually taken in by Ms. Ruth Trine of Dayton, Ohio and after five years, Julia changed her name.
She attended school in both Ohio and Swissvale, PA and eventually came to reside again in Dayton, Ohio. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church and later David’s United Church of Christ, where she was on the Fellowship and Hospitality Board, Rummage Sale Volunteer, and member of Warm Wishes- a ministry that creates and sews mittens and hats for various organizations in the Dayton area. After retiring from Metlife Insurance she began volunteering at Kettering Hospital and participated in the Lifelong Learning Program at the University of Dayton. Her loving actions were many, even when her words were few. If the subject of football came up, though, she could talk for quite a while! She was a long-time Bengals fan and also enjoyed the Reds.
Though Julie was never married and knew no relatives by DNA, she made her own beloved family. She leaves behind many special friends, especially, The Ladies of Warm Wishes, Cindy and Bernie Wheeler and Rebecca and Virgil Forrest.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Warm Wishes Ministry by sending it to David’s Church, 170 W David Rd; Kettering, OH 45429 or via www.davidsucc.org. Services will be held at David’s United Church of Christ, date pending.
