Centerville

GUENTHER, Julie “Tootsie”, age 85, of Centerville, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 peacefully in her home, surrounded by family.

Julie was born February 6, 1939, to Leavitte S. and Mary Elizabeth (Jacobs) Albaugh of Dayton, Ohio. She worked as a secretary for the CPA firm Wall, Castle, and Granaway, and then alongside her husband at Lloyd, Darner, Guenther, and Ellis. Julie worked tirelessly as a homemaker and devoted wife, raising her daughters and supporting her husband in his endeavors as a self-employed CPA.

Julie was a member of the Leica and Tripod Camera Clubs, and Girl Scouts of America. She was also involved with Food-2-Go through Living Hope Community Church, and 30 plus years of volunteer service at Christ United Methodist Church in Kettering. Julie was an avid adventurer who loved traveling with her husband, family and friends. She had visited all fifty states at least once but developed a special love for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, a place her and her husband grew to know intimately over decades of frequent visits. She was a talented photographer and could often be found enjoying the beauties of nature and working in her garden.

Along with her parents, Julie is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Ernest H. “Ernie” Guenther. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Janie E. Long and Jennie L. Guenther; and grandchildren, Ginny M. Long and Ernest W. “Ernie” Graham. The family will announce a Celebration of Julie’s life at a future date. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Dayton and their entire staff for their excellent care of Julie.
