Karen Ann Thompson

THOMPSON, Karen A., of Centerville, OH, age 77, passed away November 16, 2014. She was born July 14, 1937 in Carbondale, IL, and grew up in Springfield, IL. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Latin. Karen was a homemaker who nurtured and supported her children's activities and growth. In her earlier years, she taught Sunday school, was an avid bowler and excellent bridge player. In her later years, she devoted much of her spare time to family genealogic research. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Margaret Lemme. She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Bernard; son Brian and his wife Kim; son Scott and his wife Jenny Stein; son Derek and his wife Cyndi; daughter Sarah Hunter and her husband Shaun; sister Jane Wing and her husband Robert; nine grandsons; two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering. The family will greet friends following the service until 2:00pm. The family wishes to thank the staff at both St. Leonard's Retirement Community and Hospice of Dayton for the excellent and compassionate care given to Karen.
