YORK, Karen Marie, age 69, of Dayton, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021. Karen was born August 9, 1951 to Cecil and Nancy (Patterson) York.
A graduate of Fairmont West in 1969, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal Communications from Ohio University, and her Master’s degree from the University of Dayton in public speaking. Karen taught interpersonal communications at the collegiate level, teaching at U.D., Sinclair, BGSU, and OU. She was involved in numerous organizations, such as the Clark County, Greene County, and Springfield National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. Karen also served on the Adamis organization board, and was a third generation member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO).
She is preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Nancy York. Karen is survived by her sisters Patti Ann (Douglas) Doellinger, and Linda York (Stewart) Baxter; nieces and nephews, David (Melissa) and Paul (Elisia) Doellinger, Christine Baxter (Jon) Williams, Nielson (Sarah) Baxter, Andrew Baxter, Sarah Baxter; great nieces and nephews, Jack and Lucy Williams, Noah Baxter, Ezekiel, Jonah, Agnes Doellinger, Hannah, Joshua, Rachel, Micha and Luke Doellinger.
Family will greet friends Friday, January 29, 2021 from 1:00pm-2:00pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd, with Funeral Services beginning at 2:00pm. For those unable to attend, the services will be livestreamed on Routsong Funeral Home’s YouTube channel. Burial in Woodland Cemetery.
