BEHNKE, Karl W., age 92, of Centerville, passed away Friday, March 05, 2010. He served as a radio operator on a B29 during WWII. Karl retired in 1980 from NCR where he worked as a chemist on the encapsulation process. He was a professional photographer working on weddings and sporting events around the area as well as the staff photographer for the Beavercreek newspaper. Karl had a passion for woodworking and made many furniture pieces for his home. Karl was a member of Centerville United Methodist Church where he was head usher for many years and a member of the Men's Club. He also belonged to Alpha Lodge No. 0729 F&AM, Reese Council No. 9, Victory Chapter No.210 and Dayton Commandery No. 068 of The Royal Arch Masons of Ohio. Karl is preceded in death by his first wife Eleanor; son Larry Snider; and siblings Bill, Bob, Dorothy and Hanna. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Velma; son Denny (Mary Jane) Behnke of Kettering; Daughter-in-law Peggy Snider of Dayton; grandchildren Robbin, Scott, Bobby, Gary, Sharon and Steve; 10 great-grandchildren; and 3 great, great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, March 8, 2010 from 5:00-8:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville OH 45459 with Masonic services at 7:30PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 9th at 10:00AM at the funeral home.
