Kasperski Helga Dorothea

KASPERSKI, Helga Dorothea, age 77, of Kettering, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2006. Helga was born in Tilsit in East Prussia (now Sovietzk, Russia) on February 24, 1929 as oldest child of Ernst Gronau and his wife Dorothea, a born Kaschub. The family suffered expulsion and Helga fled to London and from there to the United States, where she worked as a nurse at Miami Valley Hospital for 30 years. There she met her later husband, Jan Kasperski, who preceded her in death 20 years ago. Helga will be memorized by many patients and colleagues as a dedicated nurse with an extraordinary sense for what other people needed. A great gift was her boldness to give advise and opinion when needed. Her smile and humor gave us joy and her knowledge and wanting to learn about all aspects of life made her unique. She loved the sea, flowers, nature, and all God's animals, especially her cat and dogs. May she now be reunited with her husband and parents she longed for so much. All of us, who knew her, will miss our 'wise owl', as one has called her. Helga leaves relatives here in Ohio as well as in Germany and relatives in law in the US and Poland and more than fifty friends from around the world - some of them known to her since her childhood - who wrote her letters for this Christmas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 3, 2006 at The Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
