Ullmer, Katherine “Kitty” L., age 77, passed away Tuesday September 17, 2024.
Kitty was born November 1, 1946 to the late James and Irene Ullmer. A graduate and band member of Fairview High School in 1964, she graduated from The Ohio State University with honors and inclusion in Phi Beta Kappa. She later earned masters degrees in both English and German, from the University of Colorado. She became a teacher in Germany for 2 years. She taught at Trotwood High School before becoming a feature writer for the Dayton Daily News for 40 years, interviewing many famous celebrities. Her love of writing was evident at the Centerville Noon Rotary Club where she was newsletter secretary.
Kitty was a huge Red’s fan, as well as Elvis. She had a passion for traveling that took her to Hawaii, New York, Europe and other places. Her personable nature allowed her to become friends with anyone, as she loved to talk to people. Her greatest love was family, particularly her nieces and nephews, and she loved taking them to special events.
Left to cherish her memory is her brother Jim (Martha), sister Stephanie (Dennis), special niece and nephew Stacy and Jim Ullmer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held for family members only.
If desired, donations can be made in her name to the Centerville Noon Rotary.
