LOPER, Ken, age 54, of Kettering, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Ken was born September 11, 1969 to Thomas and Mary Jane (Burchfield) Loper.
From a young age, Ken showed an aptitude for computer coding, meticulously working with his friends to write a code that would role the dice for their Dungeons and Dragons campaign. He carried that love of computers to college, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Wright State University. After college,
Ken devoted his career to coding.
On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, when the nation came under attack, Ken quit his job and began training, eventually enlisting in the Army. After his time in the military, he returned to the IT field.
Ken was a generous and kind person, fiercely loyal to those he cared for. Honest to a fault, Ken was intuitive and headstrong. He always had a smile on his face and a joke to share, whether appropriate or not. Ken was a survivalist, backpacking his way through the wilder parts of Canada. He had a big personality and a bigger heart, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sydney (Bobby) Croce; grandsons, Luca and Nico; brothers, Scott (Carol) and Andrew (Tracy); nephews, Ricky and Jesse, and niece, Maranda.
