Kenneth "Ken" Salyers

SALYERS, Kenneth “Ken,” age 81, of Kettering, left his Earthly home on Friday, September 27, 2024. He was born December 24, 1942 in Greenup, Kentucky; the son of the late Otha and Garnet (Crum) Salyers. Along with his parents, Ken is preceded in death by his daughter, Tara Salyers and siblings, Gloria Coleman, Douglas Salyers, and Evelyn Severs. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Phyllis (Borchers) Salyers; daughters, Molly (Dan) Mudra and Elizabeth (Byron) Sanders; grandchildren, Allison, Justin, and Natalie Mudra and Hayden, Addison, Kinsley, and Caleb Sanders; siblings, Helen Hall, Ray Salyers, and Jim Salyers; and numerous extended family members and friends. 

 Ken graduated from Fairmont High School and attended The Ohio State University and Sinclair Community College. He proudly served as a Military Policeman in the United States Army. After serving, he was a Real Estate Broker for over 30 years until his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, relaxing at the casino, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church for many years as well as the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post 598. Ken had a deep love for God, family, and his country. 

 A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Road, Kettering, OH 45429. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 12:00PM at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Avenue, Kettering, OH 45429. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery where Army military honors will be rendered. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to the Fisher House Foundation, https://fisherhouse.org/, in memory of Ken.
