Kenneth William Selm, age 72, of Bellbrook, Ohio, was peacefully called to Heaven on February 1, 2025. Ken was born on April 23, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Irwin and Olive Selm. He was a graduate of Elder High School and pursued further education at Miami University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. It was during his time at Miami U that he met the love of his life, Elizabeth "Betsy" Alexander.
Married on April 26, 1975, Ken and Betsy built a loving family, welcoming three sons into their lives. Ken dedicated his professional career to Human Resources, overseeing compensation and benefits at Wright State University. An avid Ohio sports fan, Ken found joy in rooting for his favorite teams and sharing that enthusiasm with his family.
A devoted husband and father, Ken cherished his family above all else. He willingly volunteered to coach his sons’ sports teams, instilling in them the values of teamwork and dedication. As an active member of the church with Betsy at Mt. Zion Church in Xenia, Ken’s faith shone brightly, reflected in the more than 30 years he spent teaching the adult Sunday School class.
Ken and Betsy shared a passion for travel, often enjoying sun-soaked days in Destin, Florida, their cherished getaway. In addition to these memories, Ken nurtured a love for gardening, delighting in helping things grow and generously sharing produce with friends and neighbors.
In remembrance of his life and legacy, funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 6, at 11:30am at Mt. Zion Church, 428 Shepherd Road in Xenia, Ohio 45385. A visitation will precede the service at 10:30am, ensuring all who knew him can pay their respects and honor this remarkable man.
Ken leaves behind his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Betsy Selm; sons, Dan (Lori) Selm, Paul (Marie) Selm, Selm, and James (Antonella) Selm; and grandchildren Parker, Kendra, Ashley, Evan, Cora, Liliana, and Matteo; sister, Lynn (Gordon); brothers, Richard (Nancy) and Roger (Patty).
Ken’s family would like to extend special thanks to his nurses at Kauhale Centerville for their compassionate care throughout his battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
