WHITT, Kenneth "Kenny", age of 72, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 10, 1951, in Salyersville, Kentucky to Johnny and Opal Whitt. Growing up on a farm he learned the importance of dedication and hard work at a young age. Surrounded by 6 sisters and 1 brother, he also learned the significance of having a close and loving family.
Kenny graduated from Salyersville High School class of 1969 before moving to Dayton, OH and beginning his career as a Sprinkler Fitter. Shortly after moving to Dayton he met the love of his life, Beverly Gail, while cruising around in his Corvette to visit a friend. After one date he told his friends and family he met the woman he was going to marry and within a year his wish came true.
Throughout the years Kenny struggled with severe chronic pain but he somehow managed to rise above it; staying the same kind, patient, soft spoken man he always was. Kenny and Gail welcomed their only child into the world in September 1980 and it was one of the happiest days of his life. Always a dedicated and doting father he loved spending time with Ashleigh. Whether it was snuggling up on his recliner and watching Looney Toons or helping her perfect a new dance move he was always there to support her in any endeavor. His family became complete in July 2015 when he welcomed the light of his life, his granddaughter Kendall to the world. He was wrapped around her little fingers from day 1. It didn't hurt that she was named after him. He loved dancing with her, rocking her to sleep, swinging her in the front or back yard, fishing in the pond with her behind the house. Anything his little buddy ever wanted to do...he was in. Of all the titles he ever held, Pop Pop was the most cherished one.
When he wasn't spending time with his family you could find him playing golf on Pipestone Golf Course, where he found solace and joy on the greens and managed to score two Hole in Ones. When he felt the need for speed he would hop on his Harley and cruise around the block or head to the Barn to work on cars and bikes with his friends.
Kenny leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and joy. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Beverly Gail Whitt; daughter, Ashleigh Whitt; granddaughter, Kendall Russell; mother, Opal Whitt; sisters, Judy Jones, Sue Hayes, Bonnie Dyer, Rhoda Fister, Fran Thomas; brother, Phillip Whitt; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
As we mourn the loss of a phenomenal man, son, brother, husband, father, Pop Pop and friend we are reminded to embrace the memories he left behind and hold them close to our hearts.
Visitation will be from 11-1 on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Routsong Funeral Home at 81 N Main St, Centerville, OH 45459, with Funeral Services held at 1pm. Burial at Highland Cemetery in Miamisburg will follow.
