MATNEY, Larry D. (Papaw Larry), age 59 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital. Larry retired in 1998 from General Motors as a job setter after 32 years of service. He was a Veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam era. During his retirement, Larry worked as a part-time handyman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Elsie Matney and brother, Dewey Matney Jr. Larry is survived by his close friend, Betsy Petry of Bellbrook; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Jessica Matney of Dayton and Amie (Shannon) Snyder of Independence, KY and 1 son, Brian Klein of Centerville; 2 grandchildren, Mikayla and Boston Dale Snyder; 7 sisters, Kathline Vance of Dayton, Geneva (Ernie) McCollum of Lewisburg, Josephine of Dayton, Helen (Craig) Marshall of Union, Patricia (Gene) Lacy of Dayton; Carol Sue (Roger Spivey) of Bellbrook, and Donna (Dan) Marker of Lewisburg; 3 brothers, Dennis Matney of Alamonte Springs, FL, Charles (Gladys) Matney of Dunnellon, FL and Doug (Pat) Matney of Xenia; He is also survived by his nieces and nephews who will always be crazy about him. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 1, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Beavercreek. Family will receive friends Friday from 6-9:00 PM at the funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family via the Routsong website at www.routsong.com.
