Larry J. Mckinley

McKINLEY, Larry J., age 76, of Arlington, TX, formerly of Kettering, OH passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Arlington Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 9, 1936 in Wabash, IN to the late Ora and Florence (Ogle) McKinley. Larry graduated from Mentone (Indiana) High School. He then went on to earn his Bachelors Degree from Manchester University in Manchester, IN and his Masters Degree from the University of Dayton. Larry retired as an Assistant Vice President after 27 years with NCR Corporation. Prior, he was a Teacher at Kettering Fairmont and Unit Principal at Fairmont East High School for a combined 10 years. Larry was a member of Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren, where he established the Marilyn McKinley Memorial Scholarship Fund. Larry was a devoted family man, a participating member of the Big "O" Group and Kettering Optimist Club. He won several beautification awards as a gardener, authored several books including McKinley Happenings and enjoyed many sports such as fishing on Lake Erie. Larry is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Marilyn, and sister, Leigh Ann. Larry is survived by his children, Brent (Samantha) McKinley of Kettering and Ellen McKinley of Las Vegas, brother, Dwayne (Cheryl) McKinley, three nieces and one nephew, and significant other, Jean Trimble. A private burial will be held at Woodland Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren, 800 E. David Rd., Kettering. In lieu of flowers, his family requests contributions may be made to the Marilyn McKinley Scholarship Fund, c/o Prince of Peace Church, 800 East David Road, Kettering, Ohio 45429.
