With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lawie Mewbuorn of Kettering, Ohio, on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024. Born on January 30th, 1928, to Arthur and Jesse Mewbuorn, Lawie's life was one filled with dedication, love, and craftsmanship. At the tender age of 18, Lawie was called to serve his country, spending a year as part of the occupation force in Japan. Upon returning, he resumed his work at Dayton Press, where he would spend 37 years and eventually retire as head pressman. Lawie found lasting love at the age of 22 when he married Janice Rodgers, and their bond lasted for an incredible 74 years. A talented woodworker and gardener, Lawie found solace in the artistry of his hobbies. Together with Janice, they lovingly restored antique furniture and created pieces of lasting beauty. When not working with his hands, Lawie could be found immersed in the pages of western novels, finding joy in tales of the frontier. Lawie will be dearly missed by his devoted wife, Janice Mewbuorn, his loving daughter, Adele Lopez, his son, Russell (Val) Mewbuorn, and his brother, Art Mewbuorn. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. In this time of sorrow, let us remember a man whose kindness, dedication, and love have left an indelible mark on all of our lives. May he rest in peace. At this time the family has opted for their own private remembrance.
