age 88, of Dayton, passed away, Monday, April 7, 2003. He was a member of The Central Church of the Nazarene. Lawrence was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Preceded in death by his son, Howard Lawrence; grandson, Brodus Randall Smith; parents, John and Myrtie Whitescarver; and brother, Herman. Survived by his wife, Alberta; 3 daughters, Betty Jean (Michael) Pruitt of Dayton, Mary Alice (Brodus) Smith of Spring Valley, and Carolyn (Okey) May-Smith of Dayton; 1 step-daughter, and son-in-law, Norma Jean (Bill) Halcomb of Dayton; 4 brothers, Chester and Jewell, both of Kentucky, John of Maumee, OH, and Kenneth of Columbus; 3 sisters, Clarine Baldwin of Kettering, Margie Angerer of MI, and Alyene Kina of Toledo; 4 grandsons, Clifford Gregory Smith, Brian Allen Smith, Walter Clyde May III, and Aaron Lee May; 2 granddaughters, Amy Marie Goetz and Leslie Ann Iyde; great-grandchildren, Jacob Adam & Christopher Randall Goetz, Cassandra Lynn, Amanda Renee, Shelby Nicole, Dalton Thomas, and Kylie Brianne Smith. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 11 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave., Oakwood with Pastor Kenneth A. Herdman officiating. Burial in Woodland cemetery.
