HENRY, Lawrence Francis, age 93, formerly of Kettering, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Born July 29, 1916, Lawrence attended school in a one room schoolhouse in North Star, Ohio and entered the Army in 1942. While in the Army, he served as a medic in Normandy, Northern France, and Rhineland and earned a Purple Heart, a 5 Bronze Star, European African Middle Eastern service medal, a Distinguished Unit Badge, and Good Conduct recognition. Lawrence was handy fixing things and enjoyed cars, gardening and catching life's moments with pictures. He worked at NCR and the Kettering School system. After retirement, he enjoyed many wonderful winters in Bonita Springs with Gert. He is preceded in death by parents Albert and Agnes Henry. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gertrude Louise Glaser Henry; daughter Shirley H. Minham (Joseph) and grandchildren Joe and Amy; 3 sisters and 1 brother. Mass of the Christian burial will be held on Friday June 25, 2010 at 12 Noon at St. Albert the Great Church, Far Hill Ave. in Kettering with Fr. David Endres officiating. A Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:45 at the church. Arrangements by Routsong Funeral Home Kettering Chapel. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.routsong.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Albert the Great School.
