Leatrice Rita Westendorf

WESTENDORF, Leatrice Rita, “Sadie” (Hawkins), age 79, of Dayton, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Miami Valley Hospital, surrounded by her children. Sadie was born January 31, 1926 in Dayton. She was a graduate of Wilbur Wright High School, class of 1944, and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Sadie was a devoted mother and a talented seamstress. In good years and in bad, she remained a devout fan of the Cincinnati Bengals. She was also a loyal friend to many Milton Club members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Beatrice Hawkins; beloved husband of 39 years, Martin Eugene Westendorf; sisters, Eleanor Kaylor and Barbara Hill, and brothers, Robert Hawkins and Richard Hawkins. She is survived by her six children, Richard Westendorf of Dayton, David Westendorf of San Francisco, CA, Kenneth (Karen) Westendorf of Kettering, Dennis Westendorf of Dayton, Jerry Westendorf of Dayton, Carol (Randy) Napier of Brookville; sister, Kathleen (Bernard) Barnhorn of Cincinnati; grandchildren, Jodi (Tom), Chad, Lance “Rusty”, Jennifer (Matt), Brooke, Stephanie, Kimberly, Jeremy, Kyle, Dana, Ethan, Megan, and RJ; and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Morgan and Sydney. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, caring relatives and wonderful friends. Sadie will be deeply missed by those who loved her. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave. at Irving. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 27th at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 140 S. Findlay St., Dayton. Interment following at Calvary Cemetery.
