BERGER, Leon H., (COL retired USAF), age 86, formerly of Dayton, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2003 in Corte Madera, CA. A graduate of the United States Military Academy, class of 1941, he was a veteran command Pilot in the Air Force during WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was born and raised in Calumet City, IL. He was a graduate of the Command & General Staff School at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, the NATO Defense College in Paris, France and the Air War College, at Maxwell AFB, AL. He was a Life Member of the Air Force Association, a member of the Caterpillar Club, and served three years as the Professor of Air Science at Ohio University. Preceded in death by his wife, Ann Berger and brother, Harry Berger. Survived by three sons, Robert and wife, Nancy Berger of Dayton, OH, James Berger of Bluffton, IN and Ronald Berger of South Lake Tahoe, CA; daughter Pamela and husband, John Lloyd of Corta Medera, CA; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Olson of Elkhart, IN and Nelda Rankin of Cherry Valley, CA. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 26, 2003 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, OH with Rev. Darlene Hensley officiating. Burial in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Family may receive condolences via the website at www.routsong.com.
