Leona Ruth Sowder

SOWDER, Leona Breitenstrater, age 99, formerly of Oakwood passed away Tuesday, April 18 at Bethany Village. She was preceded in death by spouses Raymond Rahn and Everett Sowder and by her dear friend Dr. Edward Austin and by her five sisters, Florence, Marie, Margaret, Rosie and Louise and her brother Joe. She is survived by her nephew David Kennett (Susan), great nephew John Kennett (Mary Kay), 2 great-great nieces Kyra and Kirsten Kennett and by her dear and special friend Cathy Austin Rabe and her family. Leona was born on December 14, 1917 and raised in Dayton. Along with her family she was part owner of Breitenstrater Shopping Center for many years. Leona enjoyed swimming and golf which she played into her eighties and loved her extensive travels to six continents. The family would also like to thank the staff of Bethany Village and Hospice for the care provided to Leona. Funeral services will be held at David's Cemetery chapel on Monday, April 24 at 11:00 AM. Friends may call from 10:30-11:00 to pay respects. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Childrens Medical Center, Hospice of Dayton or Sicsa.
