WILSON, Lois J., age 74, of Kettering, passed away Monday, October 27, 2003, after a prolonged illness. She was born in Dayton and graduated from Wilbur Wright High School. From 1979-1989, she was employed as Director of Food Services for the Montgomery County Jail. She also served as past president of the Oakwood Kiwanis Women’s Club, a Reach for Recovery volunteer, and a girl scout leader. Her greatest talent, however, was as a craft person and homemaker. Lois’ artistic skills ranged from cross-stitch to interior decorating to painting lunchbox purses. Her creativity was boundless. She was an accomplished quilter and was a member of the Polen Farm Quilt Group and the Miami Valley Quilting Guild. Lois enjoyed traveling and had a great appreciation for the past and simpler times. She enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, canning pickles, writing letters, and playing euchre with her many dear friends. Lois was a devoted wife. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 54 years, Tom Wilson, former Sheriff of Montgomery County. Lois was also a loving mother and grandmother. Survived by son, Joseph C. Wilson and his special friend, Betty Rosenlieb of Charleston, SC; 2 daughters, Penny Ellis of Boulder Creek, CA and Wendy McArdle and her husband, Scott of Starksboro, VT; grandson, Alex Ellis; 2 granddaughters, Caroline and Jenna McArdle; 2 sisters, Shirley Jones and her husband, Ed of Dayton and Marge Chadwick and her husband, Ed of Fairfield Glade, TN; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, with Rev. Ed Puff officiating. The family will greet friends in the funeral home from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Antioch Building Corp., 107 E. First St., Dayton, OH 45402 or the Scottish Rite Learning Center, PO Box 932, Dayton, OH 45401. Condolences may be sent to the family via the funeral home’s website at www.routsong.com.
