Lois W. Zizert

ZIZERT, Lois (Wilson), age 94, of Centerville, passed away Monday, March 4, 2002. Born in 1908, Lois was descended from the pioneer families of Wilson and Pine in the Centerville-Washington Township area. She graduated from Steele High School and the University of Cincinnati. Lois was an elementary school teacher who had taught in Dayton, Centerville, Beavercreek and Dayton Beach, FL, where she resided for several years. She was a long-time member of Fairview United Methodist Church. Lois became interested in local history with the purchase of the 19th century Aaron Nutt stone cottage, 78 N. Main St., Centerville, in the 1950's and was a catalyst for the founding of Centerville Historical Society, serving as its first president where she was named an honorary life member. She married Floyd Zizert of Clayton, residing there until his death in 1991. As a member of St. Leonard's Retirement Center, she busied herself making hundreds of scrapbooks to share with friends and relatives. Preceded in death by her husband; parents, Arthur Wilson and Katherine Pine Wilson; and sister, Marjorie. Survived by numerous distant cousins. Lois will long be remembered for her gentle spirit and generosity to many relatives and friends and her interest in education, travel and history. Funeral services will be at 12:30 PM, Friday, at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, with Rev. John Wagner officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the services. Burial in Clayton Cemetery, Clayton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairview United Methodist Church, 828 W. Fairview Ave., Dayton, OH 45406 or the Centerville-Washington Township Historical Society, 26 N. Main St., Centerville, OH 45459.
