Lorraine Johnson Armentrout

ARMENTROUT, Lorraine �Lorrie� Johnson, age 92, of Dayton passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011. Lorrie was born in Chicago, IL but grew up in the upper part of Michigan where she served her church as a lay reader. In Dayton, she was a member of College Club and an active member of Second Church of Christ, Scientist on Grand Avenue, where she served at different times as Sunday School Superintendant, Reading Room Manager, Music Chairman, and member and chair of the Board of Trustees. Lorrie is also ministered in the prisons through her work with the Ohio Committee for the Institutional Work. Professionally, Lorrie worked as Director of the Department of Decoration for Lowe Brothers Paint Stores and as Advertising Representative for the Christian Science Monitor. Later, she entered the public practice of Christian Science where she actively healed by prayer. Lorrie could always be identified by the butterfly accessories she loved and collected as her trademark. Preceded in death by her husband, sister, and daughter, Judith, who passed away in 1999. Lorrie is survived by her son, Distinguished Professor Peter B. Armentrout and his wife Mary Ann (White) of Salt Lake City, Utah; brother Bruce T. Johnson of Lansdowne, VA; and by grandchildren Matthew (Felicia), Patty, and Erin Armentrout. She was loved by a host of other relatives, friends and by her church family. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 23, 2011 at 11AM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering Oh. Family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home until 2PM.
