Lorriene D. Tackett

TACKETT, Lorriene D., age 86 of Kettering, Ohio formerly of Chambersburg, PA passed away peacefully at Brookdale Place of Oakwood on May 14, 2014. She had moved to Ohio in 2007 to be closer to her son following a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. Lorriene was born on December 4, 1927 in Weatherford, OK to Warren and Rose Swigert. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Department of the Army for many years, eventually retiring from the Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg. Lorriene was a long-time member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Chambersburg where she sang in the choir, taught adult Sunday School classes, was a Lay Speaker, and served on various church committees. She was well-known for many years for her beautiful soprano voice and was frequently requested as a soloist. Her faith enabled her to have an optimism and upbeat spirit despite numerous challenges she faced during her life. She was an energetic, outgoing, and classy lady who will be deeply missed. Lorriene is now singing eternally! She was preceded in death by her parents; her older sister, Darliene Binkley, and other relatives and friends. Lorriene is survived by her son and devoted daughter-in-law, David and Connie Tackett of Kettering, Ohio; her younger sister, Carol Sue (Roy) Weinberg of Illinois; grandchildren Sean (Jessica) Klemm of Mason, OH and Sarah Tackett of Columbus, OH; three great grandchildren Connor, Ryan, and Taylor Klemm; dear friend, Sharon Dinterman; and many other family and friends. A funeral service will be held Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 6:00 pm at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, Ohio 45429 with the Rev. Dr. Brooks Heck and Rev. David Tackett officiating. Lorriene's family will receive friends from 4-6:00 pm at the funeral home. Inurnment in the St. Paul's UMC columbarium will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The Tackett family is especially grateful for the care given to Lorriene over the years by the caring staff members of Grand Court and Brookdale Place.
