Mr. Lorrin "Dale" Friesen, born on August 21, 1928, in Aurora, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on August 4, 2024, at his residence in Kettering, Ohio. A dedicated graduate of Selma Union High School, Mr. Friesen later forged a successful career as a service repairman for Sears, where he dedicated 25 years of service before retiring.
Mr. Friesen was the beloved husband of Norma Jean Friesen for 67 years and was blessed with three children: Debra Friesen Salter, Glen David Friesen, and Carol Friesen Schultz, along with four cherished grandchildren. He was a man of many talents and interests, finding particular joy in family, friends, neighbors, cookouts, playing cards, and exploring new destinations. Notably, his passion for all things related to Turkey Red wheat was well-known among his circle. Dale was extremely patriotic, and always flew the American flag in front of his house, and it was always lit at night.
Throughout his life, Mr. Friesen demonstrated his versatility by exploring various professions from farming to military service, as well as roles at NCR. His ability to fix anything and his jack-of-all-trades spirit endeared him to all who knew him. Dale was the one who was always there for his family, the one they could always call if they needed help. He was the rock of his family.
Mr. Friesen is preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma Jean, in 2020, and his son, Glen David, in 2022. He is survived by his daughters Debra (Michael) Salter and Carol (Jim) Schultz, and daughter in law Carol Friesen, grandchildren Joel, Kate, Dane, and Chuck, as well as his siblings Jerry, Gene, Earl, and Joan, and sister in law Darlene.
Funeral services for Mr. Lorrin Dale Friesen will be held at Routsong Funeral home Kettering Chapel (2100 E Stroop Rd) visitation will be Wednesday August 21 from 4-5PM, with a ceremony to follow at 5PM. His life and legacy will be honored and celebrated by all those whose lives he touched, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
