Louis Wozar

August 28, 1911 — March 19, 2001

89 years old, born August 28, 1911, died at Hospice of Dayton, March 19, 2001. He was a resident of Key Largo, Florida and Dayton, Ohio. Lou died with his family by his side. Lou will be sadly missed by his wife, Helen, of 64 years; their two daughters and their husbands; Thomas and Dorothy Savage-Kemp and Beverly and Robert Parker. Four grandchildren and their spouses; Tracy Savage, Geoffrey and Jodi Parker, Stephen and Tangi Savage, Lisa and Kris Carlson, four great grandchildren, Riley and Abigail Parker, Marcus Savage-Lyons and Ellie Carlson. A very special thank you is given to Lou's caregivers and special caregiver of two years, Sharon Creekmore. Lou was a gifted, warm and wonderful man with many talents. He had an unsurpassed combination of interests in people and how things worked. Mr. Wozar applied his knowledge and energies, not only to industries and community affairs, but he also was the holder of numerous patents. He will be remembered for his contribution to the community not only locally, but also on the state and national level and for his philanthropic endeavors. Lou was the retired owner, President, and CEO of Tait Manufacturing Co. and numerous other affiliated companies. Lou was President and CEO of Sister Cities International of Washington DC and traveled in 78 countries to further their development in international affairs. Lou was President of the Board of Directors at the University of Dayton and received the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters Degree in 1969. He was an honorary member of the Board of Trustees for the Kettering Hospital He was President of the Boy Scouts of America of the Miami Valley Council, the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce. Lou received the ''Outstanding Management Citation'' from the Management Methods Magazine, as well as, the ''Citizen's Legion of Honor Award'' from the Presidents Club of Dayton. It would be impossible to list all Lou's outstanding accomplishments and achievements. Lou was a member of the Card Sound Country Club, Ocean Reef Club, Key Largo Anglers Club, Dayton Country Club and the Moraine Country Club. The family will receive friends prior to the ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at the Woodland Mausoleum Chapel, 118 Woodland Ave., Dayton, with services following at 11:00 a.m., Saturday. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the University of Dayton Foundation, 300 College Park Ave., Dayton OH 45469-1637, Lou Wozar Fund of Sister Cities International, 1424 K Street NW, Ste. 600, Washington DC 2005, Kettering Hospital, 3535 Southern Blvd., Kettering OH 45429, Hospice of Dayton, PO Box 3509, Dayton OH 45401-3509 or the charity of your choice.
