SPURLOCK, Loyd, age 93, of Kettering, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015.
Loyd retired from DESC in 1978. He served in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Dayton Victory Chapter #594, Order of the Eastern Star, a 64 year member of Millennium Lodge #779, Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, and Antioch Shrine. Loyd was also a member of Church of the Cross, United Methodist Church of Kettering.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary D. Spurlock on December 16, 2007. Loyd is also preceded in death by his parents, Effie and Howard Spurlock; four sisters, Helen Napier, Oma Gamble, Irene Bowling, and Opal Lamb. He is survived by his son, Ronald Spurlock of Dayton; daughter, Deborah (Jack) Lurty of Chillicothe, OH; granddaughters, Jennifer (Mark) Braby of San Jose, CA, Heather Tatman of Milwaukee, WI; great-grandchildren, Devin Tatman and Caroline Braby; brothers, Wiley Spurlock of Cincinnati, OH, Howard (Evelyn) Spurlock of Batavia, OH, Tom (Lucy) Spurlock of Independence, KY, and Farmer (Phylis) Spurlock of Cincinnati, OH; numerous nieces and nephews; and constant companion, sassy, his beloved yorkie.
Private services will be held at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
