Lt. Col. Lee D. Shibley

SHIBLEY, Lt. Col. Lee D. 51, United States Air Force, beloved husband and father, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 6, 2006. Lee played football for Oregon Tech University all conference and was invited to try out for the Cincinnati Bengals. He graduated from the University of Oregon with a BS degree in Biology and from the Mayo Clinic program in Physical Therapy. Lee practiced at the Mayo Clinic for several years before joining the US Air Force in 1991. After graduating from the University of Iowa with MS degree in Ergonomics, he served as a research scientist at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright- Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH. In 2005, he transferred to McConnell AFB and served as Commander Physical Therapy Flight until his death. Lee was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Shibley. He is survived by his wife of 13 ½ years, Susan Shibley; mother, Rose Marie Shibley of Albany, OR; son, Lee D. Shibley II; daughter, Emma K. Shibley all of Wichita; brothers, Alfred, Bob and Don Shibley; sister, Gail Shibley and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 6430 Far Hills Ave., Centerville, Ohio, with Rev. John Bradosky officiating. Lee’s family will receive friends on Sunday, June 11, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, Ohio. Interment at Dayton National Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Shibley Children’s Education Fund, c/o Andover State Bank, 511 N. Andover Rd., Andover, KS 67002.
