GRAHAM, Lucene Glock, age 97, of Kettering, passed away on May 31, 2012.
Lucene was born in New Kensington, PA, in 1915, and grew up in the small community not far from Pittsburgh. She was the daughter of popular sport's figure Carl C. Glock and his wife Lula Masters. In 1933 Lucene entered Hood College in Fredrick, MD, graduating in 1937 with a degree in home economics. She then went to work for Joseph Horne's Department Store in Pittsburgh, where she helped to create popular new departments, including a canteen shop during WWII. She married Kenneth N. Graham on Christmas Day, 1941, and after the war the couple moved to Dayton, OH.
Lucene belonged to numerous organizations, including the College Women's Club and the Dayton Woman's Club. She also worked long hours with special needs children. Her interest were many. She especially enjoyed politics, history, decorating, and traveling.
Lucene was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, sister Betty Baxter, and brother James Glock. She is survived by daughter Anne Oscard, brother Carl "Todd" Glock and his wife Betty, numerous nieces and nephews, and a score of kind and generous friends.
Burial services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 555 Valley Street, Dayton, Ohio 45404.
