Lucinda “Cindy” Mae (Taylor) Downs of Dayton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 15, 2024.
Cindy was born in Bedford, IN, to Everett and Lynn Taylor on February 9, 1962. She grew up in Indiana, later moving to Kansas where she attended classes at Kansas State University. It was in Kansas that she met and fell in love with Cloyd Downs. They married in 1984 under a canopy of roses.
Cindy was defined by her loving and caring nature. While in Kansas, she volunteered at a local zoo where she opened her home to many animals in need.
Cindy also worked for many years as a nurse’s aide, caring for those in need in her community. In 1995, Cindy and Cloyd moved their family to Dayton to be closer to her mother. During this time, she balanced being a wife and mother while taking classes at Sinclair in an effort to advance in her career and provide the best care for her patients. As the years passed, Cindy was faced with her own health and mobility issues. This was a difficult time for her and her family, as she was now one who needed care. She could often be found escaping into her books. An avid reader, she amassed an impressive home library. She found peace in her dreams, and in the home she shared with her loving family.
Left to cherish Cindy’s memory is her beloved husband of 40 years, Cloyd Downs of Dayton; daughters, Ashley Downs of Dayton, and Kia Downs of Leesburg, Virginia; son, Jack Downs of Riverside; mother, Lynn Taylor of Dayton; father, Everett Taylor of Perry, Florida; brothers, Kyle Taylor of St Cloud, Florida, and Scott Taylor of Naperville, Illinois along with many loved relatives.
