Lynn Elaine Scherer

SCHERER, Lynn Elaine, age 64, of Washington Twp., passed away Friday, July 26, 2024. Lynn was born July 13, 1960, to the late Edward and Judith (Smith) Ireton. 

 Above all, Lynn loved her family. She married husband, Albert, 44 years ago. They raised Benjamin (Tzu), Carrie (Anthony), and Megan (Mike) and were blessed with grandchildren Zoey, Margaux, Maya, Elliott, and Audrey. In addition to her immediate family, Lynn was a mom to many. A number of her own and her children’s friends cite her as a “safe space” to go to when they needed someone. Lynn and Al are well-known as friends to everyone at Theo’s in Centerville, where Lynn could be regularly found on the back patio counseling her younger friends and providing a warm welcome to anyone that came in her path. 

 In addition to her unquestioning love for everyone, Lynn is known for her obsession with mermaids, which paired well with her joy in having the mouth of a sailor. She decorated her home to feel like a cottage by the ocean. She loved all things mermaid, except for Ariel (The Little Mermaid), because she is a “f-ing cartoon”. She could often be found doing mermaid crafts and coloring in ocean-themed coloring books with her grandchildren. 

 Lynn enjoyed Irish dance with her daughters when they were young as members of the Celtic Academy of Irish Dance. She also loved volunteering at the Beavercreek Senior Center for many years. 

 Along with her parents, Lynn is preceded in death by her brothers, Chuck and Jim, her brother-in-law, Terry, and her beloved pugs, Itsy and Doc. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, children, grandchildren, sister (Joan), brother (John), and countless chosen family.
