Mahmud T. Faruki, Md

FARUKI, Mahmud, T., MD, age 84, of Kettering passed away Sunday, April 6, 2003 at Lincoln Park Manor. He was a psychiatrist. After leaving active duty with the Army where he had been Chief, Neuropsychiatric Service, US. Army Aviation School, Fort Rucker, Georgia, he settled in Dayton in 1955. Joining the Dayton State Hospital as a psychiatrist in 1955, he resigned as Superintendent in 1973. He maintained a private practice in psychiatry in Dayton from 1961-1990. He practiced psychiatry at Kettering Medical Center until his retirement. He was a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the School of Medicine at Wright State University. Honors included the Teacher Excellency Award from Wright State University Medical School in 1983, and the Spirit of Dayton Award in 1968. He was a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry, a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and a Certified Mental Hospital Administrator. He served as President of the Dayton Metropolitan Hospital Federation, of the Ohio Association of Medical Superintendents of Mental Hygiene Institutions, and of the Neuropsychiatry Section of the Montgomery County Medical Society. He was a former member of the Boards of Directors of the Mental Health Association of the Greater Dayton Area, of the Social Health Association of Dayton, of the Adult Psychiatric Clinic of Dayton, of the Montgomery County Mental Health Board and of the Senior Citizens Center of Dayton. Survived by wife of 54 years, Rita (Trownsell) Faruki of Kettering; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Michelle Faruki of Oakwood; daughter and son-in-law, Rita (Faruki) and Kenneth Wilson of Lander, WY and 3 grandchildren, Brian, Jason and Charles Jr. Faruki. Funeral services, with eulogies, will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at 8:00 PM the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Family will greet friends Wednesday, from 4-6 PM and 7-9:00 PM at the funeral home. In memory of Dr. Faruki, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 40 S.
