Margaret Ann Messer

MESSER, Margaret Victoria, "Marge" (Bezold), age 93, a resident of The Carlyle House in Kettering, Ohio, passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. Born on November 15, 1923 in Newport, Kentucky, Marge attended parochial schools, graduating from the Academy of Notre Dame in Covington in 1940. While employed by the New York Central Railroad in Cincinnati, Marge met her future husband, Vernon Messer. Married in 1946, Vernon and Marge spent the next 59 years dedicated to each other, their children and their strong Catholic faith. Vernon passed away in February, 2005. A loving mother and homemaker while raising her children, Marge returned to work as the "Welcome Wagon Lady" in the late 1960's and was well known throughout the Centerville community. She later became the Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director of the Washington Township Chamber of Commerce in 1972. An avid bridge player, traveler, seamstress, and crafter, Marge loved nothing more than her children and her faith. She is survived by her children, Mark (Carol Stahl) Messer, Pamela Flad (Chuck) Beckett, and Scott (Marianne Homan) Messer; brother, Dick (Trudy) Bezold of Taylor Mill, KY; grandchildren Lisa Fisher, Jennifer Messer, and Jo (Jeremy) Leonard, Andrew Flad and Ashley Flad; great-grandchildren Wyatt and Elle Leonard, and Max Fisher. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Freida and Tony Bezold of Ft. Thomas, KY and her brother, Roy (Ann) Bezold of Cincinnati. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 12:00 PM Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at St. Albert the Great Church, Far Hills Ave., Kettering. Funeral services are being arranged by Routsong Funeral Home. A luncheon for family and friends will immediately follow at The Carlyle House, 3490 Far Hills Ave., Kettering. Memorials may be made to The Carlyle House Employee Fund. Marges family expresses their sincere thank you to the staff of The Carlyle House and Hospice of Dayton for their precious friendship, outstanding care, patience and compassion given to Marge during her time with them.
