KRONAUGE, Peggy (Margaret Ann Powers) of Centerville, formerly of Oakwood, devoted wife of Paul W. Kronauge Jr., married nearly 49 years, passed away on February 20, 2006. She was the beloved mother of Paul W. Kronauge III (Corrine) of Redwood City, CA; Patricia Kronauge (Jerry Gulker) of Hobe Sound, FL; Pamela Marshall of Centerville, OH; Polly Kronauge of Jackson, WY; and Penny Kronauge (John Mott) of Dayton, OH. Survived by five grandchildren who called her “Mimi”; Katerina and Anika Kronauge; Kelsey and Kirk Marshall; and Anuhealani Kronauge. She is also survived by her sisters, Jinny Berten (John) of Cincinnati, OH and Susie Heinz (Terry) of Charleston, SC. Born April 21, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri to Mary Ellen Walker and William Francis Powers. Peggy graduated from the Summit Country Day School in Cincinnati, the University of Dayton and St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. She worked for twenty-one years at Children’s Medical Center, where she was a nursing supervisor, emergency room administrator and Asst. Vice-President of Outpatient Services. Peggy was the driving force in creating Children’s Urgent Care. She had a variety of interests which included antiques and together with her husband established “Strip-tique”. She found great delight in her friends and shared with them an occasional manhattan. Her deep and tireless devotion to genealogy revealed long held family stories and secrets, both Irish and English. She was a Daughter of the American Revolution, a Daughter of the Republic of Texas and a founder of the League of Italian Sisters, where she was known as “Theresa”. Peggy volunteered many years in the genealogy section of the Dayton-Metro Library as a transcriber for The Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild and also entered obituary information in the library’s database; in addition, after the attacks of September 11, 2002, she volunteered for covert reconnaissance missions for the CIA. She was a wise woman of quiet charm and generosity of spirit, coupled with a unique sense of humor. These combined qualities drew trust, admiration and affection from all who knew her. She died as she lived; concerned for others, finding delight and comfort in her family, and giving instructions for everyone to “always keep laughing.” A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Feb. 25th at 11:00AM at Holy Angels Church, 218 K St., Dayton, with Father Dan Meyer officiating. A Celebration of her Life to follow at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Private services to be held at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to: Hospice, 324 Wilmington Ave. Dayton, Ohio 45420, or The Margaret Kronauge Memorial Fund at the Walnut Creek Nursing Center, 5070 Lamme Road, Kettering, Ohio 45439.
